Well searching for jobs have turned out to be fairly shit at the moment. Obviously, looking for a job during a recession isn't the best thing to do. Hate my job, and well financial services is pretty much just something i fell into (seems like everyone does). Soo...this probably being the last time that I don't have any commitments, I've decided to take a couple of months off. Planning to go either after bank holiday monday or day after the general election. Since, I haven't got a huge amount of money (don't save, just spend on god knows what). I'm going to the only area that seems affordable, South-East Asia. Hopefully, i can stretch my money for about six months and have a good time. Going on my own, although people can join up. Still up in the air whether i should go to Burma while i'm down there, but considering that the Military Junta has declared elections this year, seems like a crazy opportunity for me to miss (well crazy in general). But planning to go to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore (for a day, it's too expensive), Malaysia and Indonesia. Would like to go to India and Nepal, but doubt I have enough money. Need to work out whether to do a TEFL, in case i like it so much I want to work there for a while. Anyway, will be setting up a blog soon, not this one. I'll write about preparing and can update when i'm over there. If i write 'going to Burma for two weeks, speak to you soon,' and people don't hear from me, someone will be nice enough to ring the British consulate. Plus, i'll probably be spending a lot of time commuting by bus in places and writing about my experiences will probably fill the hours of tedium that i'll experience. Also, have a huuuge fear of becoming one of thoses people that go (well you wouldn't understand you weren't there, or well that's a very uninformed opinion, I think you find...since I've travelled there, etc. etc). This way i'll be able to simply say 'read my blog' rather than getting into a long monologue. If anyone has any advice or wants to come along feel free to. Mind you, i'd like to go travelling on my own for some of it. Doing the cliched 'man in search of himself' thing is most important... |

Haven't posted in a while, but i thought i should mention one thing in a mild sortie in Copenhagen. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SCIENTOLOGISTS WALKING AROUND. Seriously not kidding, wearing blue shirts and walking around in a weird daze. Hope they don't infect me with their L. Ron. Hubbard psuedo-religious science fiction...what's that? Xenu? XENU COMES! NAWHETAITAAITAWIT. |

Just finished Harry Potter at 6.40. Considering that i had to queue until 1.20 for the book that means i spent five hours and twenty minutes reading 607 pages. Obviously won't say anything, let everyone enjoy reading it. Nevertheless, i shall go to bed incredibly smug. |

I'm going through a steampunk phase, don't ask me why, just steampunk, elegant gothic (crazy japanese people), 19th century fantasy just seems to be the order of the day. On my eternal surfing journey have discovered this: http://www.curiousgood.com/?page_id=2 which to be polite i'm quite happy to kill for. Alas it's already been sold, but oh for a pocket watch of my own. For the movie they are releasing toys that replicate it, but the only one i've seen so far is a corgi plastic one that I shall scorn and spurn. Still, Master Replicas are reputed to be doing stuff, and if you ever want high class (and expensive movie stuff) then they're the people to go for. A quick browse shows their products including a Jack Sparrow compass and a Dead Mans Chest! Many, many pretty things. Oh for anyone using the alethiometer on the movie website, use these combinations: globe, candlestick, compass cauldron, lightning, horse walled garden, griffin, baby chameleon, beehive, angel cornucopia, bull, globe Horse, Compass, Bee For some concept art. Anyway, i'm going to stop sounding like the shopping channel and go to bed...after looking at some more stuff. edit: Oh dear god, i just had a moment: http://www.sutlers.co.uk/acatalog/i Edit: Edit: If anyone wants to meet Neil Gaiman: http://www.forbiddenplanet.com/comp/sta |

Day 23.05.07, Weather: Humid Have started stage one of the DALEK EXPERIMENT! Have realised that this is far more complicated than at first realised. The Dalek/Cake hybrid fails to respond to correct procedures in being cut and have fallen to pieces. Hopefully incorporation of a Dalekanium/chocolate buttercream frosting, will support the model as well as replace sections that have completely disintergrated like the WEAK HUMAN SCUM THAT INHABITS THIS PUNY PLANET! Hopefully tomorrow will finish the creation of the Skaro.Kinetic.Invariably.Reliable.Transp Transmission Out. Edit. This would have been a hell of a lot easier to make with a sonic screwdriver. |

Anyway, couldn't sleep and was revising somewhat. Meli also couldn't sleep so we both had hot chocolate and had a good long conversation in the living room. Had a minor look on the internet and have discovered that Robert Rodriguez is re-making BARBARELLA! One of the greatest cult directors of the modern era (Sin City?) is remaking one of the trashiest, hottest, funniest movies ever made and he's making an R rated cut! Bring on the Orgasm Organ! On a less gratuitous note, The Golden Compass trailer has been released. You can see the trailer here: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thegold Eva Green looks yummy, and still can't get over that fact that they have Lovejoy being the voice of Iorek. Plus they're using the Lord of the Rings as an introduction? The one made by Peter Jackson who is incidentally suing them for money? Bastards. Since i'm talking about fantasy and that most people reading this are obsesed with Harry Potter, thought that i'd give this rather odd comparison between British advertising and American advertising of the next film. http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.a Back to revision then. |

So watching reruns of HIGNFY on Youtube. Piers Morgan as usual, is extremely cringeworthy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIb30n2p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zEswKGn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5u1vnHm |

It's seven thirty in the morning, I can't focus on what i'm working on and I'm not satisfied with what i've written and need to re-edit it. I'm tired, i'm seeing spots in front of my eyes, i have eight hours until my essay deadline is up. Currently have a cup of coffee under my nose, hoping it'll wake me up. For all i know during last night i may have accidentally reached a period of stream of consciousness and written something about using dental floss on hedgehogs. Tried to powernap. Failed due to feeling slightly down and empty space next to me in bed where Jo could be but isn't. Today is not a good day. I especially miss Jo. To offset any remarks of ahw, i will also insert this funny remark about my current state of emotions and health. Oh my god, i'm having a period. |

Have accidentally saved over a philosophy essay with a completely different one. Means I have to write it all over again. I am not pleased. |

personality tests by similarminds.com Stability results were moderately high which suggests you are relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic. Orderliness results were moderately low which suggests you are, at times, overly flexible, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense of reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment. Extraversion results were moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting at the expense of developing your own individual interests and internally based identity. trait snapshot: messy, disorganized, social, tough, outgoing, rarely worries, self revealing, open, risk taker, likes the unknown, likes large parties, makes friends easily, likes to stand out, likes to make fun of people, reckless, optimistic, positive, strong, does not like to be alone, ambivalent about chaos, abstract, impractical, not good at saving money, fearless, trusting, thrill seeker, not rule conscious, enjoys leadership, strange, loves food, abstract, rarely irritated, anti-authority, attracted to the counter culture I blame Jen for this. Whoot for 83% sexuality. Not surprised by the 83% materialism being a Tory after all. Slightly concerned with the 50% woman cliche though. Just because i cleaned the kitchen today.. |

The Golden Compass website has updated and now it's possible to find out what your daemon is. The choice seems limited methinks to characters in the books but hey, it's fun and looks pretty. |

You know when you have a surreal mind? When you're walking down the street and thought occurs thus: 'Doesn't Mahmoud Ahmadinejad look a bit like the Fonz?'
compared to:
Not a very good comparison, but I hope you get the idea. So Putin looks like Dobby, Bush looks like a monkey and Ahamdinejad looks like the Fonz. Hmm. Oh and also, I wish I could take the credit for this, but it's from the Daily Show. To slightly misquote: 'There is a nasty conspiracy theory going around that Israel is run by Jews. A cabal of Jews who set the domestic agenda and run the media.' Oh and Doctor Who, advertising Bestiality. It's a Kid's programme! |

I'm bored therefore i'm posting on my LJ. First thing the Doctor finally finds out that 'there is another Skywalker...i mean timelord.' Shall be taking the piss out of that for the next several weeks. Nooooow, it's Any Dream Will Do. After watching the first five minutes i have now come to the conclusion that there is nothing more gay than twelve 'Josephs singing 'Any Dream Will Do.' Apart from of course, A show hosted by Graham Norton with twelve 'Josephs singing 'Any Dream Will Do.' Okay, a show hosted by Graham Norton, judged by John Barrowman with twelve 'Josephs singing 'Any Dream Will Do.' Watching it briefly my inherent right wing racial slant goes 'pick him! the one with Jewish hair! Joseph's Jewish!!!' Anyway...it's so very, very gay.. |
